Holi Messages and Quotes

Holi quote #1
Aaj rang lo is mehfil mein,
khelo jhoom kar holi,
ched do har dil ko aaj
bol kar pyar ki boli,
lal gulal aur har rang mein
Aaye jeevan mein baharon ki doli

Holi quote #2

Holi quote #3
while the screams fade away
the echoes still remain
while the colours fade away..
the impressions are always left behind.

Movie Review : 13B

This TV set will scare you: Recall the horror movies churned out by ‘Ramsays’ a few decades ago. Skeletons, skulls, a blood-thirsty spirit, a graveyard, scary faces Ramsay movie would be incomplete without them.

But horror / eerie films have undergone a drastic change over the years.

Today, storytellers are weaving stories around a doll, a tree, a mansion... even a television set. Yes, in 13B, a television set is not merely an appliance to entertain and enlighten you. It plays a pivotal part in scaring you as well.

Horror in new format: ’Yavarum Nalam’ (‘13-B’ Mein Sab Khairiyat Hain in Hindi) is a forthcoming high budget bilingual film for Madhavan, directed by Vikram K. Kumar of ‘Alai’ fame.

‘Yaavarum Nalam’ is a story about the sudden happenings in the life of Manohar (Madhavan) after he and his brother buy a huge flat (13B). Acting as Madhavan’s wife Priya in both the versions is Neetu Chandra.

Madhavan’s character is the only person to be aware of the things around. How he saves his family forms the crux.

National award winning Cinematographer P C Sreeram is the Cinematographer and Shankar – Ehsan - Loy have composed the music. The movie is Produced by ‘Sujatha Cine Arts’ for ‘Adlabs’.

Fear has a new address: A supernatural thriller, '13B' has been set amidst an urban backdrop and revolves around the life of Manohar (R. Madhavan), his wife Priya (Neetu Chandra) and their family members.

Manohar is a hard working Civil Engineer, who is 31 & happily married. A typical urban Indian male, his main concerns in life include providing his family with all the amenities reckoned necessary for leading a comfortable lifestyle.

He is rational in his thoughts and practical in his approach, with an analytical bent mind and clear thinking. Manohar's wife Priya represents a typical modern day homemaker, who is extremely supportive of her husband.

Like most of the housewives in the present times, she is also in love with the daily soaps coming on TV. She is a devoted daughter-in-law, a loving sister-in-law and a playful, considerate aunt.

The life of Manohar and Priya is moving smoothly and now, they are looking forward to having a family of their own, trying to have a child. Manohar changes his house and moves into a new apartment, with his family.

Numbered 13B, Manohar's apartment is on the 13th floor of a building. Soon, they settle into the house, where the women find a new love - watching the latest TV show ''Sab Khairiyat'' (All is Well).

Oddly enough, the family in the show is quite similar to Manohar's. Initially, a number of good things take place in the show and similar events take place in Manohar's family as well. However, soon, things take a turn for the worse.

Will the shocking incidents seen in the show affect Manohar and his family also? Why is this happening? Will Manohar be able to solve the mystery before it's too late? The answers are not too far away!
Online Music video : Reliance ADAG's Big Pictures has rolled out intense marketing and promotional campaign for its upcoming supernatural ‘13B - fear has a new address’.

The online arms of ‘Reliance Big Entertainment’ have come together for an unconventional route to promote the movie.

Big Pictures held the world premiere of their music video 'Oh Sexy Mama' from the movie 13B on 18th February at 13:00 hours on www.whatis13b.com . This is the first time that a music video is being premiered online.

13 is not unlucky: Actor R. Madhavan says he had some strange experiences while shooting the horror flick called ‘13B’ but insists he isn't superstitious about the number 13 being inauspicious.

Director Vikram K. Kumar used number 13 in the movie's title to make it sound spookier, but he too doesn't believe that the number has a negative connotation attached to it.
Neetu Chandra, who stars opposite Madhavan in the film, was a little wary of the 'unlucky' number but no longer subscribes to superstitions surrounding 13. But the ………….

.. Indian astrologers pooh-pooh the concept. According to well-known numerologist Sanjay B. Jumaani, 13 is unlucky as per numerology and tarot card reading. But Delhi-based astrologer Ajay Bhambi doesn't feel that 13 is unlucky.

Movie Title: ‘13B’, Banner: Big Pictures, Language: Hindi, Genre: Thriller, Director: Vikram K. Kumar, Cinematography: H Laxminarayan, P.C. Sriram, Publicity Designs: Marching Ants.

Most who read this blog are women, and most are deeply interested in that amazing, demanding, sometimes overwhelming, but quintesential womanly time of life, when we bear and nurture our children.

The following message is from VICTORIAN WOMEN’S TRUST

Dear Friends of the Trust,

Wishing you a happy International Women’s Day this Sunday!

The Women’s Trust will have a stall tomorrow (Friday 6 March) at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre market (just behind the QV building, 210 Lonsdale Street) from 11am-3pm. If you’re in the city and can drop by, come over to the Trust table, check out our publications and merchandise (including the Women’s Anthem CD) and say hello.

Also at the market will be the Brunswick Women’s Choir who will be singing the Women’s Anthem ‘Love & Justice’ during two 15 minute sets at approximately 12.05 and 12.45pm.

The Anthem ‘Love & Justice’, which we commissioned Kavisha Mazzella to write last year as part of the Centenary of Suffrage in Victoria, will also be getting some airtime this weekend as part of IWD celebrations.

A recording of the inaugural performance of the Anthem late last year (with a choir of over 450 women) will be played on:

*774 ABC Melbourne – Tracy Bartram, who led a verse of the Anthem at the inaugural performance, is filling in as host this weekend on the Saturday Morning program (7 March). She will interview Executive Director Mary Crooks after the 7am news bulletin, as well as play the live recording of the Anthem.

*ABC Radio National (Melbourne 621 AM) - Paul Petran of Music Deli will be playing the Anthem at the end of his program on Friday evening (6 March) (program starts @ 8.05pm), and on Saturday morning 7 March (program starts @ 4.05am (for insomniacs and shift workers!). It will be repeated at the end of the program on Sunday 8 March (program starts @ 4.05pm). The program goes for one hour - if you miss it you can listen in to the podcast for a month afterwards on www.abc.net.au/musicdeli

The Trust has in stock copies of a CD which includes (1) Mary Crooks’ introduction providing the historical context of the anthem, (2) the inaugural performance of the anthem, (3) Convenor Dur-e Dara’s gifting to the women of Victoria and beyond, and (4) practice tracks, with Kavisha Mazzella singing each part for you or your choir to learn from. Copies are available for $10, including postage. If you would like to obtain a copy of the CD, please email women@vwt.org.au or phone (03) 9642 0422.

Indiabulls Securities downgrades Corporation Bank

Your Ad Here

Corporation Bank’s operating profit grew by 61.9% y-o-y, driven by a 43.2% rise in the NII and a 69% rise in other income. However, comparing on a like-to-like basis, without the MTM gains, the operating profit grew by 31% y-o-y.
Despite healthy numbers, the impact of the business-cycle downturn has been evident in a moderate advances growth (3.2% sequentially), and a 75% y-o-y rise in delinquencies for 9M FY09.
We expect advances growth to average ~18% and ~16% for FY09 and FY10 respectively. This downward revision in our growth estimates is based on funding and delinquency concerns.
Funding concerns stem from a below average growth in deposits (2.7% q-o-q) and delinquency concerns emerge from the advances-mix.
The Bank’s advances-mix is dominated by large industries (30.6%), retail (20%), SMEs (10.4%) and agriculture (9.2%), which are likely to face near-term headwinds. Therefore, the Bank’s credit off-take is likely to remain moderate.
Margins
The Bank’s NIM compressed from 2.81% in Q3’08 to 2.53% presently. This, in our view, was on account of higher cost of borrowing.
For FY09–10, we expect margins to range between 2.3% and 2.4%, after accounting for a stable spread between yield on advances and cost of deposits, and a higher cost of borrowing.
We have assumed almost stable spreads based on the reduction in retail lending and deposit rates, (twice in the past two months).
Although the reduction is slightly higher on the lending-rate side than on the deposits rate end, we expect that the relatively higher rates charged on the wholesale-lending side are likely to maintain a reasonable stability in spreads.
Valuation
We have valued the Bank using Discounted Equity Cash Flow (DECF) model where we have applied a cost of equity of 15.42% (calculated using CAPM) and an estimated terminal growth rate of 8.08%.
This results a fair value estimate of Rs182, which implies an upside of 11% over the current market price of Rs164.3.

We have tempered our fair value estimate downwards based on revised assumptions for credit quality and business-growth, having retained those for margins.
Moreover, our fair-value estimate is in line with the book value per share, adjusted for per share delinquencies (based on our estimates). At the end of the third quarter, the BVPS stood at Rs338.87.
Removing the potential delinquencies from this yields Rs294. Adjusting this for the impact of an anticipated slowdown in growth (terminal growth rate of 8.08% vis-à-vis cost of equity of 15.42%) by applying a long-term P/B multiple of 0.61x, we arrive at Rs176, close to our fair value estimate of Rs182.
Therefore, on grounds of potential deterioration in asset quality and growth concerns, we downgrade our rating to HOLD.
